Gear Fisherman

Backcountry River Guides utilizes high quality jet boats and high quality gear to get you on fish.  Depending on season and water temps a combination of pulling plugs and side drifting are the ‘go to’ systems.  4 stroke kicker motors are used to fine tune fishing and make for a pleasurable jet boat experience.  All gear is provided.

BRG uses top of the line gear.  Spinning rods and casting rods in the 8 1/2-9 1/2′ lengths.  You will notice our attention to detail with quality gear and components.

Both fall and spring can be great times for gear fishermen.  Fall is a time of traveling fish that are very energetic.  Spring fishing can be fantastic for big native fish due to the location of the staging fish before they head up their respective tributaries.

Fly Fisherman

Tired of crowded gravel bars?  Backcountry River Guides specializes in swinging flies in remote locations away from highways and crowds.  We are permitted for 200 miles of river and 120 of that is roadless.  We are the only guide operation on these sections swinging flies.  For the ultimate experience we highly recommend the multiday lodge stay.  It enables us to fish very remote water that we don’t have time to access on a single day trip excursion.

Depending on the time of season and water temps, swinging wets and skating dries is the norm utilizing floating lines and intermediate sinking tips.  As the water temp cools down, nymphing beads is a go to system.  Walking and wading gravel bars is the norm but a few runs are best fished out of the boat.

Two hand rods in the 7-9 weight are the standard with appropriate lines.  Single handers are becoming rare, but they are more than welcome.  We have rods in the boat but most folks bring their own.  We do not supply waders.
